Raranga, sculpture and re-cycled plastic @ Otaki Forks Artspace, Kapiti Coast
“Otaki Forks Artspace” is hosting a 6 day “land art” event where 8 artists from the Kaptiti coast, Tangimoana, Auckland and the Netherlands will create sculpture and installations on her property – in the bush, in the groves, among the trees, on the lawn -anywhere where they find a suitable spot. Earlier works will be on show in the gallery. Weavers Elaine Bevan and Adrienne Spratt will be weaving in harakeke and other materials, Matt Pine will bring his ecological interventions and add new banners, signs and poles, Michelle Backhouse will show new work in wire, Debra Bustin will make a site specific installation. Sen McGlinn will create stacked wooden spirals, Sonja van Kerkhoff will genetically transform plastic rubbish into “Rubbish Blooms” and float these on the pond, and sculptures by Filipe Tohi will also be on show.
Come see the finished works on the open days on 15 + 16 Feb. If you can’t make those days, ring to make an arrangement to come out later until March 2nd. tel: 06-3642044 or send an email to joy.w()paradise.net.nz
